It’s a really great comparison between an entrepreneur and a teacher. You could say that teachers create entrepreneurs or you could say the entrepreneurs are also teachers. Either way the skill set certainly compliments each other. That first for learning and teaching others, the skills that they’ve learnt all relevant for the Phil marketing and setting up an online business . My father was a very successful primary school headmaster, and after my younger sister and I were old enough not to need constant attention, Mum became a primary school teacher too.

I can remember, not long before he died, on one of my visits back to Scotland from wherever I was living at the time in South-East Asia or Australia, I tried to demonstrate the benefits of a spreadsheet to Dad. After about half an hour, he got bored and explained, “It’s just like a big piece of bloody paper.”

He was also a famous black-and-white amateur photographer. He had a darkroom, an enlarger, and all the necessary chemicals to develop and print all of his own pictures.

Now, just 30 years after his death, your story about emails and Google Classroom would have seemed like a Science Fiction story, and goodness only knows what he would have thought about today’s digital cameras and the disappearance of the need for rolls of film.

Not only is important for us to realize we always have more to learn, and we have to keep up with what’s new – especially all the digital tools we can utilize. But it’s also important for us to face challenges with an attitude that we can learn, instead of just giving up and thinking we aren’t good at something now, so must not be able to learn.
